Senate Democrats have sent our President a letter, demanding that he renounce the idea of private accounts as a part of Social Security reform, or they will oppose him. I will remind all people that the Senate has 55 GOP Senators, 44 Democratic Senators and one Independent. Assuming that in this case the Independent (a turncoat former Republican) votes with the Democrats on this issue (he did not sign this letter), there is a problem: The GOP still has ten more senators, making a majority. This means that the Democrats have no power to do anything to stop it, except of course for the filibuster, which is in essence the minority’s attempt to impose an unconstitutional three-fifths voting requirement on a piece of legislation.
"As I have frequently mentioned, before the GOP came back to power after the 2002 elections, the liberal left wanted to abolish the filibuster."
As I have frequently mentioned, before the GOP came back to power after the 2002 elections, the liberal left wanted to abolish the filibuster. How do I know this? Liberal Timothy Noah openly advocated it in slate in 2001, in an article titled "Abolish the Filibuster!" I know that you all think that I am belaboring the point on the Noah article. I am doing exactly that. I do this to remind all of you that liberals think solely of their own expediency; to hell with right and wrong. To liberals, their oath to uphold the Constitution is disposable if it means that they may suffer a loss of power.
Right now, the Democrats are the mortally wounded animal of tyranny. They are lashing out in any way possible. They know that Dr. Frist is ready to defend the Constitution and use the Nuclear option to ensure up/down votes on our beloved President’s judicial nominees. I wholeheartedly agree with Rush, Hannity and the chorus of my fellow punditry who feel that Dr. Frist could become a leading Presidential contender simply by following through to defeat this obstructionism. I also feel that Dr. Frist will defend the Constitution and use the Nuclear option.
"The Democrats will pull out all stops to stop Social Security Reform, which will be brought to the Senate floor this year. It’s their last chance to enslave future generations in liberal dependency."
The Democrats will pull out all stops to stop Social Security Reform, which will be brought to the Senate floor this year. It’s their last chance to enslave future generations in liberal dependency. The Democrats will threaten the filibuster. That should not keep the bill from being voted; the GOP must force the actual filibuster, nad make a Senator hold the floor for as many days as they want to tell our nation’s young people that the Democratic Party wants to keep them in a state of dependency. After a while, the Democrat will tire, and VP Cheney will redo the point of order, and the Filibuster will be eliminated forever, and Timothy Noah’s 2001 wish will come true.
One must see the Dems’ action as the childish tantrum that it is. They feel entitled to power; they live in a town that is full of ultraliberal socialist dinosaurs that believe that the government is the source of the power and not the people; they want to rule control and subjugate and dominate, not lead. The people have exercised their God-given power to unseat these dinosaurs, and have in their place seated true patriots who love our Constitution and will get the government out of control of their lives. These people are now in abject fear that they will have nobody to dominate; a well founded fear if ever there was one. They are out of power except for the filibuster that they once hated; the liberal bureaucrats in DC; and for the liberal vampires still left in the judiciary.
The filibuster is under attack, and if the Democrats dare to actually use it, the filibuster is all but dead. The judiciary is being invigorated by young superstar conservative judges. Look at Amy St. Eve and Mark Filip in the Northern District of Illinois, and realize that these wonderful judges are under 40! Second, our President has introduced a budget with real and substantial cuts in the size of the bureaucracy (Clinton boasted of reducing the size of government; he achieved that "reduction" by cutting defense, not the liberal bureaucracy). Now, the grandaddy of all entitlements, Social Security, will have most of the people’s money presently used to fuel dependency diverted to privately-invested funds, and will shed most of its bloated workforce of liberals who live to enslave the elderly and disabled to force them to vote left.
This leaves the Socialist Democrats, those who believe that you are unable to do anything for yourself without a socialist liberal government to help you along. with nothing! Believe me when I tell you that this is the most awesome and wonderful development that you could ever hope or pray for! The hacks who have evilly tried to control your life for decades, destitute, powerless and meaningless. What a wonderful day!
