Rove-ing Reporter

OK, the Karl Rove scandal has been officially scuttled.  Karl Rove did not "out" the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson to anyone.  In fact, he learned Plame’s identity from columnist Bob Novak!  Rove’s sin?  He warned reporter Cooper not to go out on a limb about the Niger WMD / Uranium story.  It’s been conclusively stated that Karl Rove did not break the "exposing an agent" law -- by the authors of the statute.

"So the left, who still desperately seeks that silver bullet to slay the Bush presidency, tried, with a cynical and downright weird press conference with Joe Wilson and Chucky "murder puppet of the left" Schumer.  They demanded that Rove’s security clearance be revoked.  They failed."

So the left, who still desperately seeks that silver bullet to slay the Bush presidency, tried, with a cynical and downright weird press conference with Joe Wilson and Chucky "murder puppet of the left" Schumer.  They demanded that Rove’s security clearance be revoked.  They failed.  Is this even remotely surprising?  Karl Rove has been exonerated and vindicated by every fact discovery.  Patrick Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in this matter, and also the scrupulously honest U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois (my home district), has stated that Rove is not the target of the investigation.

Here is the death knell to the Rove issue.  Joe Wilson, husband of the outed spy babe, told CNN: "my wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity."  Moreover, Wilson did not note that Plame was not a clandestine officer for over six years prior to the Novak article.  That’s it.  Karl Rove said nothing to out Valerie Plame.  Even if he did, so what.  The law only applies for five years.  More news:  Novak called the CIA before running the story.  They did not ask him to withhold any part of it.  Would the CIA be so blasé about a serving NOC agent?  No way!

"Karl Rove is the architect of the conservative victory machine.  To remove him from D.C. is the left’s only hope of disorganizing us to the point where they could sneak into power again."

Karl Rove is the architect of the conservative victory machine.  To remove him from D.C. is the left’s only hope of disorganizing us to the point where they could sneak into power again.  That has utterly failed.  Rove is innocent as a Boy Scout and all of the reliable evidence in this matter (considering that Wilson lied to Congress about Niger -- according to Congress -- we cannot trust his word) screams this fact.  So Karl is in place, our President has no obligation to fire him (W promised that he would fire anyone who acted improperly), and the left is shattered.

My brother mused yesterday that the Democratic party is on the brink of Civil War.  I cannot agree more.  The extremists have taken over the party machinery.  The entire party is moving so far to the left that the remaining normal people who vote for the jack-ass party will flee to the GOP.  The Rove scandal is the left’s only hope to snooker the normal people to stay in the fold, by making the GOP appear corrupt.  But, to paraphrase our friend Rush, the left jumped on this non-story like a pool of hungry sharks trying to bite into an empty chum bucket.  It smells like something tasty but it’s nothing worth eating.

"This is all the left has.  They are convinced that the GOP is wholly populated by people like the Watergate conspirators, who themselves have repented of their 30-years-ago evil ways..."

To continue the analogy, the left and the press tried to paint fish on the side of the empty chum bucket and tried to feed it to the people.  Still no success.  This is all the left has.  They are convinced that the GOP is wholly populated by people like the Watergate conspirators, who themselves have repented of their 30-years-ago evil ways (See Chuck Colson and Gordon Liddy.  Colson is now a devout Christian, Liddy has become a radio host).  They need to take a reality check!  W runs a squeaky clean administration.  The left cannot believe it, because they have never run an honest administration since Truman.

Karl Rove is a tough guy.  He handled this with class and has come through smelling like a Rose.  However, this scandal has yet to find its true architect.  A reporter for the New York Times, Judith Miller, sits in jail for refusing to reveal her source.  Karl Rove has publicly waived all confidentiality, and in fact voluntarily testified before the Grand Jury.  So Rove is not her source.  Who is the source?  Is her source Joe Wilson?  Is Pat Fitzgerald’s target none other than Joe Wilson?  Is the left’s tendency to protect their own, no matter how reprehensibly they behave, causing the New York Times to cut Miller loose and let her languish in jail?

"If Joe Wilson is indicted for outing his own wife, that would, in my opinion, be worth six Senate seats and 20 House seats in 2006."

If Joe Wilson is indicted for outing his own wife, that would, in my opinion, be worth six Senate seats and 20 House seats in 2006.  Chucky "defending Joe Wilson to the death" Schumer is safe for 2006, but the GOP will find someone strong to run against the junior senator from New York.  It may be that Hillary will be moving out of DC in 2006.  But understand this:  The Dems will cut Joe Wilson loose and claim that they were deceived.  They will try to save face and act as if they did not trust them all along.  Their alternative would be to try to smear Patrick Fitzgerald, but he is cleaner than the Pope.  Fitzgerald is appointed by W, yet, he came after corrupt GOP officials in Illinois, including its former Governor, George Ryan!  That means that Joe Wilson twists in the wind.

Of course, Wilson may know something that forces the Dems to take a different stances.  There are more skeletons in the left’s closet than in 1,000 medical schools.  We do, however, know one thing:  Rove is innocent, innocent, innocent!  And we know it from the mouths of Bob Novak, Matt Cooper and Joe Wilson.
