It’s hard to believe in these days, where baseless but relentless attacks by the extreme Left have rendered virtually the entire GOP caucus in the House of Representatives spineless wimps, that we can find two Conservatives in Washington DC with backbones. Of course, one of these backbone-sporting brave men is none other than our President. The other is a member of the Senate’s filibuster-busting (and Nuclear Option defusing) "gang of 14," Sen. Lindsey Graham.
"First let’s congratulate our President. He stepped up, as predicted by the Washington Post on its web site, and let the hypocritical Democrats have it over their horrid allegations that he lied about weapons of mass destruction to get us into Iraq."
First let’s congratulate our President. He stepped up, as predicted by the Washington Post on its web site, and let the hypocritical Democrats have it over their horrid allegations that he lied about weapons of mass destruction to get us into Iraq. President Bush chose to quote 2004 loser John Kerry, one of the extreme Leftists that spoke long and loudly in support for the war, then flip-flopped later on. The quotes were damning. There are others, many others, on the Left, who have seen the same intelligence that our President did and came to the identical conclusion. The British stand hard on their report about Saddam trying to get uranium.
While the Left tries to B.S. the people that Bush is a cancer on the GOP, the rank and file know better. They are falling over themselves to get our marvelous President to campaign for them. Apparently the "loss" in Virginia’s gubernatorial race (the Democratic seat stayed that way) is not so much a sign to them as Ohio voters’ woodshed-whipping of liberal election-stealing ballot initiatives.
Now on to Lindsey Graham. He has successfully amended a Senate bill to deny enemy combatants access to the Federal writ of habeas corpus, which is, in this context, a foot in the door for terrorists to escape liability for their evil deeds via the criminal courts. This act, like our President’s citation to his detractors’ hypocrisy, takes guts. I sort of knew that Lindsey was coming around when he came out and said that a Sam Alito filibuster would certainly result in the Nuclear option. Now he has confirmed it.
In a period where the GOP in Congress seems to be trying to look like the voter-rejected Democrats, Senator Graham is a breath of fresh air. Congratulations to the honorable Senator for doing something good for our national security. Perhaps the GOP wimps in the House of Representatives ought to get that Soros money monkey off their backs and get a spine. Senator Graham could show them the way.
So to President Bush and Lindsey Graham, Kudos! We are thrilled with your bravery in the face of foolishness.
