We Are Not Chattel!


Thomas Jefferson (with help from John Adams and Benjamin Franklin) wrote the immortal words: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…" - The Declaration of Independence. Since Woodrow Wilson, as the Socialists began their invidious subsuming of the Democratic party - The "Party of Jefferson" - this truth has been gradually eschewed in favor of command-and-control despotism by the party of, aptly, the jack-ass.

The nefarious transformation is complete, as the Democratic National Convention of 2012 aired a syrupy Stepford-promo containing the line that would cause Orwell to lose control of his bodily functions:

"The government is the only thing we all belong to."

Ignore the horrible grammar for now; our betters at the grammar police have yet to define a new regulation that will make the use of all dangling prepositions a Federal Felony. It has taken 236 years these evildoers, who more resemble despots of the same ilk as Mao-Tse Tung, Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler than Jefferson, Adams or Franklin to elect one of their despicable elite to the highest office in a putatively-free country. Woodrow Wilson and Barack Obama, both University professors, eschew the Constitution as a hindrance to their self-aggrandized elitism.

While Mr. Wilson had some semblance of allegiance to the law, Mr. Obama has no such compunction. He has made "recess appointments" while Congress was not in recess. He has issued "executive orders" that effectively repeal legislation passed by the Congress. He has ordered the death of American citizens without trial, even though the citizen was not attempting to harm anyone and could have been captured.

And now the convention has a brief, telling, chilling moment of truth in advertising: "The government is the only thing we all belong to." We, the citizen-owners of the Republic in the vision of the Founders, are now the property of the government in the eyes of the party that, for the moment, controls the White House and the Senate, and lusts after a recapture of the House. To Mr. Obama and his hench-people, our rights derive from the government, not the other way around. They usurp our liberty under an umbrella of red herrings.

While they make a show of Sandra Fluke, a 30-year-old law student seeking to force a Catholic university to pay for her birth control devices, and again harass Rush Limbaugh for using a coarse term to refer to her, they use the cover of the same to push through nefarious policies. The Obamacare boondoggle has wracked America, passed with not a single GOP vote or voice. When Paul Ryan tries to save Medicare, he is plastered onto a Herring fillet, pushing Granny’s wheelchair off the cliff. Meanwhile the Senate refuses to obey the law and pass a budget for three years.

While the Democrats say that the GOP is ruining the country by holding firm on the debt ceiling (as we spend more than $1,000,000,000,000 per year more than we take in), Mr. Obama is allowing his EPA to further damage Federal revenues by making it virtually impossible to lawfully mine coal - all without Congressional consent.

If ever we doubted the nefariousness of the Left, said doubts are erased by moments of truth: "The government is the only thing we all belong to." Moreover, when the GOP began scoring Brownie points with noting that the words "God Given" had been removed from part of the Democrat platform, and also noting that the Dems removed the plank about Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the voice vote was clearly lost to reinsert these items - the leaders ignored the voice vote. If they ignore the rights of the party’s own delegates, how much more will they flout the wishes of the lowly hoi polloi who the Democrat leaders regard as their inferiors?

We stand at the precipice. The future of the Republic is on the line. If Mr. Obama is re-elected, there is a high likelihood that liberty as we have known it for 236 years will cease to exist. "The government is the only thing we all belong to." We are all mere chattel to the Democrats. We are to be used, either to be touted as some example of a victim of conservative "evil" like Sandra Fluke, or to be taken for granted as a voting block, like every African American who votes with the leftists to his or her own detriment. The rulers are those who have been "trained" to "manage" us. This is the core of the evil Progressive movement (the word "Progressive" is an insult to true progress).

How do we retrieve ourselves from the precipice of the loss of all of our liberty? If the GOP sweeps the elections this year, I believe that we will be, at least for a season, redeemed. However, the newly-elected GOP will need to move swiftly and decisively to restore our rights, and to enact mechanisms that make it difficult if not impossible for the Left to undo our freedoms.

President Romney will have four years to do what it took Reagan eight to accomplish. Vice President Ryan will have to untangle a social Security mess that was a mess before Reagan. The economy will have to be set aright, and that is something over which the presidency has precious little control. Within four years, we have to unwind massive regulations, decrease the size of the Federal government by half, and enact laws, and perhaps Constitutional Amendments to prevent bureaucrats from issuing massive regulations and to protect the people from government run amok.

Let me be clear: The government is our property. The government belongs to us, not we to the government. Any other point of view is inherently evil. How we proceed from this point forward will determine what rights we, as the citizen-owners of the United States of America, will retain.
