Colin Powell, Secretary of State, is among five Bush cabinet members who have decided to move on as our 43rd president enters his second term. General Powell, the Hero of the Gulf War, part of the proof that the GOP is the true party of racial equality, an all-around good guy, has decided to retire. I personally read nothing into General Powell’s departure other than his desire to retire. The only "evidence" of anything else is pure speculation by a biased press. The reality was that General Powell is, until his successor is sworn in, the most influential and important member of our President’s cabinet.
"The elite leftist press is acting as if General Powell’s departure is a move by Vice President Cheney to consolidate his power, as if he is a puppeteer and W is a puppet. This is, however, pure tinfoil-hat nonsense."
Speculation is rampant as to General Powell’s successor. The elite leftist press is acting as if General Powell’s departure is a move by Vice President Cheney to consolidate his power, as if he is a puppeteer and W is a puppet. This is, however, pure tinfoil-hat nonsense. W runs this White House, and any sane observer can clearly see that he is the opposite of a puppet. As type this, Rush Limbaugh is noting that the media panders to failed former Democratic leaders, like Madeline Albright, to speculate about the cabinet changes and the ability of cabinet people to "moderate" our President. This is the flip side of the "Cheney is the real puppeteer" argument; the "W is a loose cannon cowboy" argument. The leftists cannot even keep from contradicting themselves for even one day. The people, thankfully, see through this garbage. But, I digress.
Colin Powell enlisted dozens of partners for the War on Terror. He strongly advocated our position in the United Nations. He helped design this war, and was not the "lone voice of dissent" in W’s cabinet, far from it! Its success to date is due to Colin Powell, who got Pakistan to flip from the roster of terror-pits to the coalition. The General has many more accomplishments; this article is not intended to list all, or even a substantial part, of them. We have not even touched on the internal work that General Powell has been doing at State, where there is horrible inertia against our President’s plans, and those of General Powell.
"General Colin Powell is a shining example of personal responsibility, service to his country, loyalty, responsibility, self-sufficiency, and integrity. He has selflessly dedicated more than half of his life to the service of the people. He is a hero of the highest order."
General Colin Powell is a shining example of personal responsibility, service to his country, loyalty, responsibility, self-sufficiency, and integrity. He has selflessly dedicated more than half of his life to the service of the people. He is a hero of the highest order. Although the leftist media scornfully call our war "unilateral," the war on terror enjoys a coalition, not of the "coerced" or "bribed," but of those whose outrage over terrorism equals our own. General Powell’s son Michael, taking after his father in the way of selfless service to country, now chairs the Federal Communications Commission. So add "outstanding father" to General Powell’s gigantic list of accomplishments. He respected his wife’s wishes not to run for the top office, so add "excellent husband" as well. The General is in his later sixties now; he has chosen to retire. Colin Powell was certainly not forced out of office!
Colin Powell, Hero of America, Godspeed. Enjoy your retirement, and take this article as one minute speck of the thanks that the people of America rightly owe you.
